Episode 239 Chad Wienen "Breaking the model of true grit"

Chad left Gatorback with a broken collarbone, scoring a 1 in Moto 1 and a 0 in Moto 2. Moving into unknown territory, Chad quickly spoke with his doctor to figure out a plan. On Monday, he underwent surgery and had a strengthening gusset added to his broken bone.

With no word coming out of the Hetrick or Wienen camps, the ATV MX world was turned upside down, and after 12 years, a new points leader emerged. The big question was, what was Chad going to do? No word, nothing, just rumors of retirement or riding only for points.

Rolling into Underground in Texas, the unforeseeable happened. Chad qualified 3rd, which was a surprise to everyone. In Moto 1, Chad ended up in 2nd place, but the real surprise was that Chad led part of Moto 2 with his still unhealed collarbone, feeling pain, and an overwhelming desire to win a 9th championship.
